Celebrate Peace
“Celebrating Peace” responds to the challenge made some time ago by the School of Social Sciences to all its departments to reflect on Peace. The implementation involved teachers and students from undergraduate and master’s degrees associated with the History department. It also had the support of the research centers at the University of Évora: CIDEHUS, CHAIA and the Évora hub of IHC NOVA.
This exhibition has four main purposes:
1) Be an act of citizenship, understood as a universal human imperative, in which young people, as heirs of the future, have a fundamental role;
2) Demonstrate that History can (should) have an effective impact on the public space and that its professionals have a broad and diverse field of activity in the job markets;
3) Show that knowledge must go beyond university walls and be communicated to different audiences;
4) Teach that History is a discipline that works with chronological and spatial transversality, in scientific inquiries that answer research questions constructed from cultural diversity.
The 14 posters in this exhibition reflect these objectives. Its authors are 33 young students. Scientifically supervised by five professors from the University, they made choices of themes and images. We all know that the 14 themed posters correspond to 14 looks, among many other possible ones. However, upon finishing the visit to the exhibition, we will all feel a sense of security that the future of humanity is entrusted to a generation that cares and will fight for Peace.

The exhibition opened on 5 December 2023 and ran until 26 February 2024 in the Cloister of the University of Évora.
