International Congress about Euro-Mediterranean Policies for Cultural Heritage gathers researchers from 9 countries in Évora
The International Conference “Europe and the Changing Mediterranean: Policies and Research Agendas for Culture, Heritage, and Sustainability” took place in the University of Évora between November 28 and 29, 2024.
This scientific meeting aimed to promote an interdisciplinary and intercultural dialogue focused on Mediterranean heritage, and Euro-Mediterranean agendas and policies for its safeguarding and valorization, as instruments to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.
The organization team of the event considers that this was an unique opportunity to share research methods, to discuss strategies for the safeguarding of a common cultural legacy, to foster respect for cultural diversity, and to disseminate a set of mechanisms that allow greater collaboration in the Euro-Mediterranean space, in order to deal with the challenges the region is facing. Strongly affected by climate change, the growing pressure of mass tourism and migratory flows, both internal and external, which are difficult to manage, the Mediterranean region is in constant transformation, invariably requiring various levels of dialogue.
