Investigation
The South is our privileged space for analysis, understood in a global context.
Two concepts – diversity and social change – guide the approaches, activities and contributions of CIDEHUS’ research groups.
The focus on the concept of diversity enriches and densifies the diachronic and synchronic analysis of social changes, which guide CIDEHUS’ scientific approach. Diversity is recognized as a social issue that has historically shaped social, political, cultural, and economic coexistence, just as it is today.
Research Groups
Group 1 analyzes the turning points, obstacles and long-term effects of diversity on the social, political, cultural, and economic dynamics of the South.
Group 2 explores the past legacies’ ability to integrate and express diversity, their relationship with the institutions of memory and knowledge, and the way in which the resulting information is made available.
Group 3 analyzes tourism and population mobility, with the objective of identifying sustainable strategies that aim to mitigate the negative impacts of tourist flows on the territory and culture.
